LIVESTRONG!!!

Lance Armstrong is back in Austin, TX, rehabbing his shoulder after a crash in Europe that broke his collarbone. Lance is not hiding the fact that he is hurting. Jet lag, pain killers, metal screws and non-stop travel will make for one banged up cyclist after such a traumatic event.

This right here folks, is exactly the reason PisaniTraining is closely following his comeback. To come back to pro cycling could very well the toughest thing to do in all of sport. I know this from a personal experience. In my short cycling career of roughly 8 years, I had been a racer, and then not a racer on numerous occasions. Each time I decided to race again, I had to suffer, and suffer very hard for months, until I got into full domination mode again.

Lance was definitely not expecting this in his comeback, but this is something he was certainly aware of.

Look for Lance to be on the bike today for about 6 hours. That is what it takes to win the Tour de France, DISCIPLINE!

In an article posted on the Astana team website, doctor Doug Elenz, the orthopedic surgeon who performed the procedure in Austin, Texas, said it wasn’t yet clear when Armstrong would be able to return to racing.

“Normally we see eight to 12 weeks for something like this to heal completely,” Elenz said, but added that Armstrong could be back in action before that, depending on his progress.

Elenz and his team repaired the injury with a 5-inch stainless steel plate with 12 screws.

Armstrong was expected to be back at his home in Austin on Wednesday evening. He is then supposed to rest for a week, after which he can begin aerobic training on a stationary bike.
