Single Leg Wall Squat
Posted October 11, 2009 – 7:13 am in: Amelia Island Personal TrainingI had an opportunity to spend some time with local trainer, Macy Van Alstyne, CPT, NASM. Macy had some great ideas that he shared with me, and I was fortunate to video tape some excellent exercises that will not only help athletes, but everyone who’s goal it is to achieve optimal health.
The single leg wall squat is more of an advanced exercise, and you need to have a sound foundation of squatting, before you attempt this one. I would suggest practicing the “split squat”, and “front squat”, for a few weeks to prepare for this advanced movement pattern.
Some of the key points to this exercise is to drive your weight on your heel, and prevent your knee from going over your toe. If you can work your way up to 8 reps per leg, you will have acquired some excellent eccentric strength.
Single leg training is very fun and exciting and I am thankful for Macy to have taken some time to share this excellent exercise. Stay tuned for more to come!
