Peaking for the US Open

Neps!

Neps!

With the US Open tennis tournament just 9 days away, Robby and I have started to taper down the training at Old Towne Athletic in Marrietta, GA, with the goal to show up at the Open, peaking, and at 100 %.

As we all know the US Open is 3 out of 5 sets and is 2 weeks long. The winner of such a tournament has to have the endurance to not only play for up to 5 hours in 1 day, but also have the endurance to keep it up for 2 weeks.

The training so far has been going A plus in my book. Mr. Ginepri is getting stronger and fitter as the days progress and after watching him play a tournament for the first time in nearly 4 years, I believe he will bring his “Ginepri” style play to NY with him come August 31.

Our boy “White Shadow” put in a SOLID two weeks prior to last week’s event in Cincinnati and I expect him to be ready to rock come Day 1 at the Open. washingtondc-050

The plan is to show up in NY on Weds, the week before the tournament starts to get used to the courts and conditions that only Flushing Meadows can produce. The smell, the humidity, the fans, and the court surface will have a condsiderable impact on the players.

For the players, arriving early to the tournament is a must, and if you are a fan, you can see some great action before the tournament even starts…
