Kendrick Forehand Side View
Posted April 16, 2009 – 8:25 am in: Tennis InstructionHere is the Kendo forehand. He hits it as big as a forehand can be hit.
His ball really jumps off the strings with tremendous topspin. He is able to do this because of his MASSIVE forearm strength and because of his Western Forehand Grip. If you were to see his forehand , the name of “Popeye” would come right to your mind!
You’ll see here the whipping action of the wrist and how he really “wind shield” wipes the ball landing near the baseline and how he doesn’t like to travel to far away from the baseline.
Kendo’s timing is impeccable and that enables him to take a nice cut at the ball. Without the timing, beginners have difficulty in taking the ball on the rise, the single most important aspect of great baseline play.
Have somebody feed you balls that you have to take on the rise and you will see that with some practice, you too can position yourself near the baseline and hit deep groundies, off of your opponents deep shots.
