Indoor Tennis Continues in Memphis with Sampras!

pete_sampras1Indoor Pro Tennis continues this week in Memphis, TN.  I like this tournament a lot.  The hospitality at the tournament are second to none.  Americans that are going strong in the tournament are Robby Ginepri, Andy Roddick, and Mardy Fish. Pete Sampras is enjoying battling today’s top stars in a series of exhibitions.  This week he narrowly lost to Leyton Hewitt 7-5, 6-4…is a comeback at Wimbledon in the works?  I really don’t think so, but it is a fun thought to play around with!
Funny story…last time I was at Pete’s house was right before he was about to go and play Roger Federer in a series of exhibitions. I told Pete, that with a fast court, there was no doubt in my mind, that he could take out Roger. I said, “Your forehand goes through the court more, your serve is a little bit heavier, and I like your attacking style. The only thing he has on you is speed right now.” With a very quick reply, and smile on his face, Pete responded with a, “Not in my prime!” Classic!

I like how Sampras is timing his backhand volley right here…timing the foot to the ground and the ball to the racket.
