ugurMen’s Tennis Freshman Atalay Wins A-10 Performer, Rookie Honors

One guy that has not missed one Pegasus workout is Ugur Atalay. Earlier this season, I acknowledged Ugur’s commitment to the program, granting him a summer scholarship to the Pisani Training Center. It is no wonder that Atalay finished regular season on a six-match win streak for the Colonials. Here is the latest news.

PHILADELPHIA, PA - The Atlantic 10 Conference named George Washington’s men’s tennis player Ugur Atalay not only Rookie of the Week, but also Performer of the Week.

Atalay shares the double honor with Temple’s Filip Rams.

The freshman from Istanbul, Turkey, finished the season Friday, April 10, with straight-set victories against Georgetown’s Andrew Brun, 6-2, 6-3, and Howard’s Michael Gee, 6-3, 6-4, to finish the spring season at 12-6.

He also finished the season riding a six-match winning streak, with all but two straight set wins.

Atalay and the rest of the men’s tennis team will next be in action at the Atlantic 10 Conference Championships on April 24-26, in Monroeville, PA.
