US OPEN - Ginepri vs Pavel / Kendrick vs Arguello

WHITE SHADOW

When both PisaniTraining athletes take the stage early next week in New York, they will both be underdogs in their opening rounds. The ATP rankings do not base their numbers on court surfaces but on overall performance. PT.COM is telling it as it is, and both Ginepri and Kendrick should win these matches in 3 or 4 sets.

The only noticeably absentee is Amer Delic (Le Big Bozz) who wrote recently on his Facebook Wall, ” first week almost over. Starting to get used to this. However, as much as like being back in Champaign, I rather be in NYC getting ready for the Open. Next year, definitely.”

NEPSIZZLE

Up for Neps is veteran Romanian, Andre Pavel. Pavel has been around the game for as long as I can remember and is surely singing his Swan Song in the very near future. There is no doubt about it, Andre can still play some serious ball, but he better have been training hard, because this is 3 out of 5 against, what could be, a contender to go very deep in this tournament.

Martin Vassallo Arguello of Argentina is ranked 56 on the ATP computers this week . Robby and I practiced with him in Cincinnati, OH, and like your everyday dirt baller, likes to play back behind the baseline and hit with very heavy topspin. Well, the word “heavy” here is relative when you compare his ball to that of Nadal’s or Verdasco’s. Rob will be able to tee off on some second serves and the pressure Martin feels from White Shadow’s return will no doubt give Rob some free points in most service games.

Each victory in the Slams, draws the players closer to encountering a seed, but if you are looking for a favorable draw for your players, this is as good as you get…
