Long time personal training client, Chris Rodman completed some great exercises today outside in Amelia Island. Chris is an avid tennis player, full time college student, and part time waiter. He takes his fitness seriously and is a blast to train with! The plan is to keep increasing his strength to lay the foundation for more power in his tennis strokes. He is looking to generate more power in his serve and forehand, while maintaining flexibility. Already we have seen an increase in ball speed and amount of spin that he is imparting into the ball.

C ROD performs the Kettlebell Snatch. This will help his tennis fitness reach new levels.

Today we kept the workout simple and brought the 12 pound med ball, and brought the 20 pound kettlebell to the field. A series of kb swings and tennis specific medicine ball throws kept his heart rate up and above 170 for most of the 90 minute training session. This is something that he can handle because of the solid base that he has created for himself. I would not recommend such a high heart rate for that duration if you are just starting out. When we first started, I kept his heart rate below 160 for the first 6 weeks. Long rides on the bike with high RPMs and low heart helped in aerobic base training.
