Extreme Training 1 - Stair Running
Posted May 1, 2009 – 5:14 am in: CyclingI grew up about 1/2 mile from Binghamton University. The winters were long and cold in Upstate NY so I had to do a significant amount of training inside.
One of the methods that I used to really tax the body and prepare it for the Spring Races was to run the University’s Library Tower.
The Tower had 18 floors to it, so if you went to the bottom level it would take me approximately 1 minute to get to the top. Going down would take 3 minutes so this ratio was perfect.
Here is Sam Querrey running the Santa Monica Stairs one day in the 7 weeks that we spent together training. As you can see these stairs are steep!
