amerfrenchAmer Delic, aka The Big Bozz (because he is from Bosnia), battled his way to another win yesterday in Paris, beating Fillipo Volandri, 6-4, 7-6.

Del was up 5-3 in the 2nd set and serving, when the wily veteran Volandri broke back to bring the match on serve. The next game proved to be interesting. Volandri quickly went up 40-0 on his serve and the big guy was looking down the barrel of 3 game points.

Bing! Bing! Bing! Deuce! Back and forth they went, with Volandri saving 1 match point, but prevailing to eventually bring it to a tie-breaker. Kudos to Amer for closing it out in that breaker. Not easy to do when you already had the match on your racket a couple times.

Next up for Amer is Brazilian, Franco Ferrero. I know nothing about this guy, but you can bet your bottom dollar, he’s probably hit a couple balls on the dirt before. The winner advances to the main. Check out Amer’s tennis coach, Craig OShaunessy at www.thebraingame.net
