Benjamin Balleret has been working like a professional and the results are paying off.
Based in Monte Carlo, Monaco, the kid they call, “Ballou”, won his first title of the season, winning, the $15,000 Clay Court Event in France. After a tough opening round against French junior sensation, Trystan Menian, Benjamin cruised through his next three rounds with ease.
In the final, the long week on clay proved to tough on his opponent in the third set, when Balleret broke to win the final 6-3 in the third. This victory will move Balleret up to 392 in the ATP World Rankings.
He has a ways to go to make his goal of top 100, but he is young, and if continues to stay healthy and improve his quickness and recovery, there is no reason why he can’t make it to the Big Show.
In a recent training call to Benji, he exclaimed, “I feel really, really good right now. I played 2, 3 setters, that were really hard, and I felt great after each of them. I feel very strong and healthy right now.”
Ballou’s next event will be for his Monte Carlo team in Davis Cup. After that, the schedule looks like he may come over to the states to meet face to face with his trainer. The kid they call, “Pauly P”!
