Agility Drill of the Week - 8 ball pickup at P-Dine
Posted October 1, 2009 – 4:21 pm in: Coach's Corner, Tennis, Tennis FitnessI had a ton of fun working with the Pepperdine Men’s Tennis Team in 2007. The team really reached their potential and finished 8th in the country.
We all know that tennis requires speedy change of direction and quickness is a requirement if you want to succeed at the top level.
Although there are many drills I like to use on the court, this oldie is one of my favorites. I actually learned this agility drill back in 1990, at the Drew Evert Academy in Boca Raton. Drew was nice enough to let me partake in some of his advanced junior clinics and I had a blast.
This drill will increase your quickness and can be timed so you can gauge your progress. A good time is 31 secs. That’s your typical male collegiate tennis player. Consult with a physician before performing this high level intense exercise.
